Blue Twist Glass Vase with Scallop
Key Features
Glassblowers discovered early that molten glass — in the brief window between liquid and solid — could be twisted against itself to create a helical structure that is stronger than a straight wall and catches light at angles a plain surface cannot. The technique appeared in Roman workshops in the first century AD and has never been improved upon, only inherited. This piece continues that line: hand-blown, the blue deepening in the folds and lifting where the glass thins, the scalloped rim a considered pause at the top of 35cm of turning form.
